Educational Assistance Visits

Ken Lambert will enlighten your staff so you can more effectively serve the needs of your congregation and community.

To show you how complicated it can get, a friend of mind had invited me twice to speak to his focus groups on Sunday mornings.  But it wasn't until I helped him plan his mother's out-of-town funeral that the realization hit him about what I really do for families:                 "Ken, I have listened to you twice as you talked to my friends.  But it wasn't until you started helping me with my mother's out-of-town arrangements that I really began to appreciate the value of your service.   I never dreamed we had this much flexibility and options. And the money we saved!  We got everything we wanted. You really provide a much needed service."  I saved his family over $5000 dollars on one funeral.

An educational visit is not intended to make your church staff a group of experts on funeral consulting and negotiation. That is Ken Lambert's expertise.

The purpose of the visit is to enlighten and help your staff to recognize situations that are out of kilter with the norm.  Ken will also give you ideas about how to more effectively serve families in your congregation.  Most of the time, you will be able to help families with little assistance from Ken.  But there will be times when Ken Lambert's specific expertise will tremendously benefit families in your congregation.

Ken will also be a resource for questions from your staff.  Your staff is always welcome to listen in as Ken Lambert counsels with a family on the telephone.

There are members of your congregation who have been faithful with their gifts and tithes.  They have truly given from their hearts. As a pastoral staff, you now have the opportunity to save families in your congregation thousands of dollars per funeral.

You can be a source of enlightenment or you can be a stumbling block.  You can make it easy for members of your congregation to use the church facilities for funerals or you can make it difficult.

Here is a sample of just one way your church can change things to increase competition among funeral providers:  A friend of my parents lost his wife suddenly, a few months ago.  The family  had already determined that the funeral would be in the church with an out-of-town burial the next day. But instead of having a visitation at the local funeral home as was normally done, Ken encouraged the family to have a combined visitation and funeral service the night before at the church.  It was absolutely one of the most incredible and uplifting funerals I have ever attended.  And several funeral homes competed for the opportunity to serve the family because all the ceremonies were done at the church so the location of the funeral provider was immaterial.  We did however, use a local funeral home, but he had to match the price of competitors who were 20 miles away.  The funeral provider made a nice profit.  But the family still saved thousands of dollars over what the funeral would have been had there not been a competitive situation orchestrated by Ken Lambert.

It is all about educating you staff on the game.  And it is a game.  The family's wallet is the prize.  Once your church staff recognizes the game, they will be more effective at serving families in the congregation when someone loses a loved one. And for those complicated situations, your staff will call Ken Lambert to help with negotiations.

I know of no family who has regretted getting Ken Lambert's help. I know of many families who wished someone had told them to call Ken Lambert when they lost a loved one.

I look forward to educating your staff and serving families who need my help.

Sincerely,

Kenneth C. Lambert, Advisor, Negotiator
